Today we begin by asking Gary Edwards, Joint MD & Co-owner, a few questions about his baking experience and ambitions for Magnacool. 1. Please can you tell be about yourself?
I started baking when I was at school as his first Saturday job, in fact between us Mike and I have over 80 years of experience! From here I learnt my craft working in small artisan bakeries including some of the world’s leading hotels and bakeries. I’ve worked closely with Mike in the equipment side of the industry and 20 years ago we formed our first bakery related company.
2. What is your role at Magnacool?
I have been friends with Mike for 30 years. We met in late eighties when we were both technical sales/test bakers for Allied Lyons, we are co-owners and directors of Magnacool, our role is to expand the Magnacool concept and give it maximum exposure to the global industry. We work closing with Antoon, founder of Magnacool, who will be helping us with sales and technical assistance, his experience is paramount. Alan plays a crucial role in the smooth running of improving the Magnacool system and ensuring installations always run to plan.
3. What do you love about baking?
Baking is one of the oldest professions in the world, here at Magnacool we love to bring together the artisan traditions of baking with the modern science of baking and help create partnerships with our friends and colleagues around the world in the baking industry.
4. What are you most excited about for Magnacool in 2020?
To be able to help our baking colleagues around the world improve on shelf life, quality and production times by introducing them to the Magnacool system.
5. Complete this sentence; When I am not baking I am ... enjoying my family time and especially my new granddaughters thanks to my eldest daughter Kerri who also works for us, walking my labradors on the beach, playing snooker with my eldest son and following my youngest son’s boxing journey around the UK.
