One of the biggest trends for the summer of 2022 is ice cream, let us tell you more!
Global diary and ice cream producer, Food Union, have launched over 80+ new products into their world market, with a focus on Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Norway, Denmark and Romania.
We've thoroughly enjoyed exploring Food Union's new products and we've picked out our favourites!
From the brands 'Healthy alternatives for a healthier life' we are very much looking forward to trying their Underground Vegan Raspberry ice cream with liquorice and chili in 500 ml pint, available in Denmark. If we visit Estonia we will be keen to try the Premia premium Vanilla ice cream with Pina Colada filling in a chocolate glazing on a stick and if we are passing through Latvia we will certainly try the POLS peanut flavoured ice cream with peanut butter sauce in a chocolate glazed bar.
Ice Cream Inspired Bakes
We know all about keeping things cool and we've have been excited to discover that the ice cream trend does not stop with ice cream itself and has infiltrated the bakery market.
As part of their summer 2022 range Sainsbury's have launched a wide collection of both savoury and sweet bakes. Sainsbury's Mini Ice Cream Inspired Cupcakes come in a pack of nine, each topped with vanilla and strawberry frosting and finished with colourful sprinkles and a classic sundae sauce.
Sainsbury's have also embraced the ice cream trend with their Neapolitan Cheesecake. Inspired by the retro ice cream, this cheesecake sees a biscuit base topped with layers of strawberry & vanilla cheesecake finished with a chocolate ganache and chocolate curls.
Research has shown that sponge cakes are anticipated to be the 'fastest-growing product segment with a CAGR of 3.7% from 2020 to 2027.' Alongside the use of cake to celebrate special occasions one of the key factors driving an increased demand for cake is the trend for cake as a replacement for deserts.
'Dessert cakes were the largest product segment with a share of 50.5% in 2019 and is expected to maintain its lead over the forecast period as these products are widely consumed fresh in various occasions.'
Asda has recognised the ice cream trend and launched their Neapolitan Celebration Cake, taking cues from classic ice cream colours and flavours. This cake has madeira, chocolate and strawberry sponge layers covered in complementary flavoured frosting. It’s topped with sprinkles, a cone decoration and chocolate frosting to look like a melted ice cream.
